Château Mouton Rothschild 2014

There are reasons that First Growths are First Growths, and never more so in vintages which go under the radar. The 2014 Mouton Rothschild is a totally brilliant wine, 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. A dense core of blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, graphite, cedarwood, hints of smoke, impressively powerful delivering layer upon layer of vibrant sumptuous fruit. Beautifully balanced and utterly engaging. The finish is long and haunting. While there is power and depth, the wine reveals in waves keeping you spellbound. A great Mouton.
