Hand-picked from bush vines planted in 1889, in two acres of deep sandy loam soil over red-brown clay, it’s a stunning wine, with a core of generous and dancing hedgerow fruit with hints of cigar box, all wrapped up in the silkiest of tannins. There is depth, concentration and purity here. It intrigues and plays on the palate, nothing jammy or too alcoholic apparent, just the best of Australia in a glass. 14%
