Paul Clüver Family Wines Village Pinot Noir 2025 Elgin Valley
I went to the Premium Independent Wineries of South Africa tasting in search of Chenin Blanc and came away with two cracking red recommendations. The first is Paul Clüver’s Family Wines Village Pinot Noir, which at a recommended price of £19.95 must be one of the best buys of the year. The Clüvers were pioneers in cool- climate Elgin and specialise in Pinot and Chardonnay. Normally, I find Pinot Noir under £20 to be avoided, but here is a wine with all the varietal character a Pinot lover could want, a beautiful perfumed nose, crunchy vibrant red fruit, great grip and a wonderful savoury finish and at a price that delivers much more for your buck.
