2019 Asphodele, Château Climens, Barsac, Bordeaux
This is the second vintage of this dry white wine from Ch Climens which has been made in collaboration with Loire vigneron and consultant, Pascal Jolivet. 100% Semillon made from 8 ha of the estates young vines, the nose has an intriguingly subtle perfume of the sea with hints of honeysuckle. On the palate, there is a roundness to the early Summer fruit which is balanced by seashell minerality, with a tension holding all the elements in play. Most impressive is the length and drive of this wine,, like an arrow in flight, it feels as if it will never end. All the elegance and finesse you would expect from a wine from Climens.
