Episode Summary:-

Jane Anson, leading Bordeaux expert is on her second week of tasting the 2022 Bordeaux vintage. To date, she has tasted around 400 wines, and Sarah Kemp joins her in her second week as they crisscross Bordeaux tasting the latest vintage. This short episode was recorded on the D2 motorway heading up to Pauillac, in a rare interlude between tastings. Sarah asks Jane her initial thoughts after a week’s tastings; she declares it a very interesting vintage with a lot of tannin and structure and adds she is pleasantly surprised, considering that it was one of the driest vintages on record. Jane explains how the châteaux prepare their samples, and why they like journalists to visit the château, where they can ensure the samples are fresh. Listen in to hear Jane’s first thoughts on Bordeaux 2022 and look out for our next episode, when Jane and Sarah will discuss the successes and failures of Bordeaux 2022.

“I was pleasantly surprised, it is not an easy vintage.”
